Description
Small Carpenter Bees (Family Apidae) are tiny, black, with bluish green highlights. They are no more than one cm long.
Behaviors
These solitary bees nest in hollow stems of blackberry or rose canes! They carve out the center shaft and lay 6-12 eggs that will emerge the following spring.
Fun Facts
These pollinators will not sting you! They are more concerned with finding dead stems to nest in and flowers to feed from.
