Description
One of the smaller (51–69 cm/20–27 in length) egrets and herons, with all-white plumage, black legs and striking yellow feet. Its range extends across the entire continental United States.
Behaviors
Inhabits the areas around coves and small bodies of water. It can use its feet to stir up and “herd” small aquatic creatures, which it then grabs with its beak and eats.
Fun Facts
Location, location! Coastal snowy egrets don’t migrate, but those that live in the interior of North America will fly to warmer regions in the winter.
