Description
Pale and pearly skin with long, tube-like body (called the “mantle”), 8 arms and 2 tentacles, with a total length up to 28 cm (11 in). Their skin contains color-changing cells called chromatophores that help them communicate with each other and camouflage themselves.
Behaviors
Often swims in giant schools and returns to birthplace to mate in large numbers. The lifespan of this squid is about a year.
