Description

Small (up to 0.9 m / 3 ft in length) predatory mammal with yellow eyes and brown, gray, and black fur.

Behaviors

Diet ranges from small mammals and birds to larger prey like deer. Solitary (lone) hunters of small animals, they also collect in packs to hunt larger game.

Fun Facts

Coyotes exist from Panama to the south, all the way up to Alaska and Canada in the north. Some ecologists believe that the removal of wolves by humans throughout North America in the 1900s allowed coyotes to expand their geographical range.
