Description
Large (1.4 m/4.6 ft in length) predatory mammal with light brown fur, large paws, yellow eyes and a long tail.
Behaviors
Shy, solitary (lone) feline that stalks (quietly follows) its prey, including hoofed mammals like deer to smaller mammals like squirrels and rabbits. Typically nocturnal (active at night), mountain lions can leap 4.6 m (15 ft) high and as far as 12.2 m (40 ft).
Fun Facts
Other than humans, the mountain lion has the largest natural geographical range of any land mammal in the Western Hemisphere, up to 595 square km (370 square mi)!
